Braintree Aiki Budo Kai is an Aikido and Karate Club based in Braintree, Essex. Founded in 1997 by Clive MacDonald whose lineage goes back to Chiba Sensei in the late sixties. The club instructors collectively have over 65 years of Aikido, Karate and other martial arts experience and are committed to teaching Aikido and Karate to the highest standards possible.
We are a friendly club with an active social aspect and encourage the fostering of friendship and fellowship both inside the club and with other clubs and associations.
Braintree Aiki Budo Kai trains at Braintree Martial Arts Centre, off Coggeshall Road, Braintree, Essex. Aikido training sessions take place Monday and Wednesday evenings 8-10 and Sunday mornings 10am-12 noon. Karate sessions take place Thursday evenings 7.30-9.30. The club is a member of 'The Bushido Za Zen International Martial Arts Society' and is insured through the society. All grades obtained through the club are recognised world-wide. In addition there are regular events within the society providing opportunities to experience other martial arts, such as Aiki-Jitsu, Jujitsu, Judo, KoBudo, Kendo, Iaido, Karate and Tai Chi.
We are a club that enjoys training hard and playing hard as you will see by the rest of our site.
